The short version. No ads, no accounts, no subscription. Viska is between you and your partner, and no one else. Your taps and their meanings sync privately through your own Apple iCloud, where only the two of you can reach them. Viska does not track or profile you, shows no ads, uses no third-party analytics, and does not sell your personal data.
Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how the Viska app for iPhone and Apple Watch (the "app", "Viska", "we", "us") handles information. It applies to the app and to this website at viska.vip. It does not cover Apple's services, which are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Viska is built to be private by design. Wherever possible, information stays on your devices or inside your personal iCloud account rather than passing through any system we operate.
What we do not collect
Viska is designed so there is very little to collect. We do not:
- ask you to create an account, username, or password;
- collect your name, email address, phone number, or contacts on any server of ours;
- run analytics, advertising, tracking, or profiling of any kind;
- use third-party trackers, advertising networks, or social media SDKs;
- sell, rent, or share your personal information with anyone.
Viska runs no backend of its own that collects your messages or your identity. Sync happens through your own Apple iCloud, and there is no Viska database of users.
Information processed on your device and in your iCloud
To do what it does, the app processes the following, either on your device or within your own iCloud account through Apple's CloudKit. This information is not sent to us and, for content in your private iCloud database, is not readable by us.
Pairing and identity
When you pair with a partner, Viska uses your iCloud account identity, provided by Apple, to establish a private, shared space that only the two of you can access. Viska derives an internal identifier for the pairing so the two devices can find each other. It does not receive your Apple ID email or password.
Your taps and vocabulary
The patterns you send and receive, and the meanings you save for them, are stored in a private iCloud space shared between you and your paired partner. This content lives in your and your partner's iCloud, under Apple's security. Viska, as the developer, cannot read the contents of your private iCloud data.
Contacts (optional)
If you allow it, Viska can look up your partner in your device's Contacts to show their photo behind the tap pad. This matching happens entirely on your device. Your contacts are never uploaded to us or to any server we run. You can decline or revoke this access at any time in iOS Settings, and Viska will simply fall back to a photo you choose yourself.
Photos (optional)
If you choose a custom partner photo, it is stored with your app and mirrored to your paired watch through your own devices. It is not sent to us.
Purchases
Viska is free to try. Unlocking a pairing is a one-time in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. Apple processes the payment. Viska does not see or store your payment card, billing address, or Apple ID. Your purchase is recorded on your device and in your Apple account so it can be restored. Apple's handling of the transaction is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Notifications
When your partner sends you a tap, delivery uses Apple Push Notification service and Apple's iCloud subscriptions. The notification carries the tap pattern and, if you saved one, its meaning, so your device can play it. This travels through Apple's infrastructure, not ours. You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings.
Children
Viska is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from children. Because Viska collects no personal data on any server we run, there is nothing for us to knowingly collect from anyone, including children.
Keeping and deleting your information
Because your content lives in your own iCloud rather than on our servers, you stay in control of it:
- Unpairing removes your partner's access to the shared space. Your history and vocabulary are kept for the two of you in case you reconnect, and are not deleted.
- Deleting the app removes its data from that device. Content in iCloud can be managed and removed through your iCloud account settings.
- Since we keep no copy of your content on any system of ours, there is no profile on our side to delete. If you have any question about data you believe we hold, contact us and we will help.
Your rights and security
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including rights to access, correct, or delete personal data. Because Viska does not collect or store your personal data on our systems, in most cases there is no data held by us to access or erase. You can still contact us with any request and we will respond.
Your content is protected by the security of your Apple devices and iCloud account, including end-to-end and at-rest protections that Apple provides. We recommend keeping your devices and Apple account secured with a passcode and two-factor authentication.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be reflected in the app or its App Store listing. Continued use of Viska after an update means you accept the revised policy.
